Pain insists on being attended to. God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our consciousness, but shouts in our pain. It is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world. (CS Lewis)

Teaching Philosophy

The education of adult learners is a tandem journey rather than a didactic one. Like the therapeutic alliance, relationships are foundational to a strong teaching alliance. It is not enough to disseminate knowledge; andragogy has to exist in the context of a relationship. I believe the best clinical educators can impart the necessary theories and skills while fostering an environment welcoming curiosity and uncertainty. My teaching goal is to help students integrate their clinical identity into their faith identity to assist in the formation of ethically sound clinicians of character.

Background

I am a graduate of Briercrest Seminary and work in clinical practice seeing individuals and couples across Canada. I have trained in various modalities, including EMDR. In my personal life, I am a busy mom of four and a pastoral spouse.
